Overview

This expansive area, once a hunting ground for Europeans in the 1800s, now houses members of various tribes who peacefully coexist as neighbors. Although the game has long since migrated, it remains a sanctuary for numerous animal species, including a diverse range of birds. As you reach Kikuletwa, you will see it as an oasis surrounded by sprawling fig trees amidst this semi-arid landscape.

Day 1

After breakfast, your driver will pick you up for the 1.5-hour drive from Arusha to Chemka Hotspring via the Arusha-Moshi road. The journey starts on a paved road and then transitions to gravel after about an hour, leading through stunning African countryside with bushland, dry riverbeds, baobab, and acacia trees.

Upon reaching Kikuletwa, it resembles an oasis amid sprawling fig trees in the semi-arid landscape. Crystal clear water bubbles from underground caves, earning it the name ‘Hot Springs.’ If you bring your bathing suit, you can take a refreshing dip and relax in the shade. After a picnic lunch, we’ll return to Moshi via gravel roads, passing the Kilavu River and sugar cane plantations before arriving back in Arusha late afternoon.
